National President of Don Bosco Alumni Rajesh Gupta presented an overview of the association. Gupta said, one hundred years ago, the alumni of Don Bosco institutions from all over the world came together and launched the world confederation of Don Bosco alumni and today we are celebrating the first centenary of this association.
Earlier in his welcome address, Lok Sabha MP Takam Sanjay, Organizing Committee Chairman gave a brief background of the State Alumni association. Vice Chairman of the Committee, Bamang Felix, MLA also spoke on the occasion.
State President of DB Alumni Michi Paku, informed that the Don Bosco Alumni movement is a worldwide association of Don Bosco past pupils which started 100 years ago in Turin, Italy, the birth place of Don Bosco (Fr. Bosco, the founder of the Salesian Society, Don Bosco Organization. Currently in India, there are 47000 registered members, who offer a variety of service through more than 150 units and ten provincial federation spread across the country.
There are 17 Don Bosco Institutions in Arunachal Pradesh which include a college, youth centres, high schools, and middle schools. Itanagar Don Bosco alumni presented the opening song ‘Don Bosco Alumni will shine’.
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: LEO Club of Arunachal has reacted sharply to the eviction drive carried out by the district administration today at Karsingsa village. It alleged that 15 houses in Transport Colony were demolished and set on fire while adding that notice period is till Feb 17.
Some of the houses belonged to the staff of transport department, who did not avail staff quarters, it said while adding that eviction was carried out mercilessly.
It called on the authorities not to carry out eviction in such a manner and respect the time limit set by the government. Calling for rectification of such drastic step, it called on the administration to rectify the process of eviction.

ITANAGAR, Jan 29: One of the senior figures of Nyishi community, Techi Taha the son of late Techi Kisram, a resident of Lekhi village near Naharlagun died yesterday after being hit by a speeding bike. Incident occurred yesterday evening around 5 PM when late Taha was about to cross road near his residence, when bike coming at full speed hit him head on.
He was rushed to general hospital Naharlagun where doctors declared him brought death.
Police have arrested one of the biker and he is behind bars at the moment.
According to an eye witness, there were two men in bike when it hit late Taha.
“They were driving in very high speed. After hitting, they dragged late Taha to a long distance. One of the biker ran away while other who was himself injured could not run away, “told one of the eye witnesses. Man of few words, late Taha was highly respected and loved. A devoted Christian, late Taha is survived by his wife, a son, two daughters and grand children. His death has shocked villagers of Lekhi, Model village and Poma. He was around 60 years old. On his funeral today large number of people turned out to pay homage.
Death of late Techi Taha has once sparked the question about the safety of the capital road for the pedestrians.
Often it is seen that cars and bikes zooming at high speed do not bother about pedestrians on the road. While authorities are busy carrying out renovation of capital roads but they seems least bothered about pedestrians.
No single stretch of road in capital complex has any particular dedicated lane for pedestrian. It is norm to have such pedestrian lane but town planners of capital complex do not seem to have any idea about need of such dedicated lanes.

Rousing welcome to Bravery Award winner Ipi

ITANAGAR, Jan 29: The people of Arunachal Pradesh gave rousing welcome to National Bravery Award winner Ipi Basar on her arrival in the state capital this afternoon. Ipi, who saved her grandmother and a minor girl child from devastating fire accident in September last, has been awarded the highest Bapu Gayadhani Bravery Award by Prime Minister on the occasion of 62nd Republic Day celebration in New Delhi.
Interacting with media persons, Ipi expressed her heartfelt gratitude to media fraternity of the state for playing a pivotal role in promoting her up to national level. She also expressed thankfulness to the State Government for recommending her for the prestigious award.
"I never thought I would be awarded with the national bravery award, and I never thought that I could meet President and Prime Minister of India, an excited but calm Ipi told media persons. In her message to young generation she said, one must help every needy people irrespective of his/her status, caste, creed and religion".
On being asked that how she does feel while representing state in New Delhi in the wake of Chinese stapled visa issue, Ipi responded that she feels proud to be an Indian, especially an Arunachalee.
Delighted father Toi Basar, who accompanied his daughter to New Delhi said, "It’s like dream come true. I never thought that I could ever meet and share dinner with President of India in Rastrapathi Bhawan". "Whatever my daughter did, I am really proud of it" he added.
The Bharat Award, constituted in 1987, and the Bapu Gayadhani Award instituted in 1988, which Ipi received, were the highest awards among five given by Government of India and Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) to children of age below 16 years in recognition of their meritorious acts of bravery against all odds.
DC appeals for a new work culture
KOLORIANG, Jan 29: Addressing the 62nd Republic Day Hq at Koloriang, Deputy Commissioner Bidol Tayeng appealed the people of the District for a new work culture for bringing meaningful development. ITANAGAR, Jan 29: Tarasso Circle Youth Association (T.C.Y.A) has expressed dissatisfaction at the work being carried out under the R.G.G Scheme by the Ms Reniya Enterprises at Tarasso Circle. House gutted in fire
ITANAGAR, Jan 29: A dwelling house was burnt to ashes in a devastating fire mishap at Upper Jullang here today. It was reported that fire broke out due to electricity short circuit at around 12 noon. The house owner Nabum Tugun lost valuable properties including local ornaments and cash in the fire accident.

Owners asked to keep livestock in custody
ITANAGAR: Palin circle administration has appealed to the owners of domestic animals in Palin area to keep their livestock in proper custody.
Loitering animals in Palin area have not only been creating health and traffic hazards but also destroying kitchen gardens, circle officer cum executive magistrate said in a release, adding that failing to respond this official order within 7 days will compel the authority to remove such stray animals through police or authorised agents.
